General Guidelines
Job Area Requirements
- Please move furniture, blinds, curtains, fly screens, and any items obstructing access to windows.
- Ensure at least 1 meter of clear space around windows on the interior side.
- Notify Tintify prior to the appointment if installers need to handle these items, as this may require a recalculation of the quotation.
Window Preparation
- There is no need to clean the windows beforehand; Tintify will handle this as part of the installation.
- If windows are excessively dirty, have stickers, or require other extensive preparation, please address these before the appointment or inform Tintify in advance, as a requotation may be needed.
Confirm Additional Windows
- Please notify Tintify of any additional windows to be tinted before the appointment.
- Additional windows not mentioned in advance may require rescheduling and will need to be requoted to account for in the final quotation price.
Notify of Film Removal:
- Inform Tintify if window film removal is needed. A requote and extended appointment time will be required.
Report Additional Items:
- If the project includes multiple obstructions (e.g., wooden frames, blinds, fly screens), let Tintify know beforehand to adjust the quotation accordingly.
Anti-Harassment and Bullying Policy
At Tintify, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service to every customer. In turn, we ask that all customers treat our installers with respect.
Respectful Behaviour:
- Harassment, bullying, or discrimination against Tintify staff will not be tolerated.
- Installers reserve the right to leave an appointment if subjected to such behaviour.
- Customers who feel they have been treated unfairly are strongly encouraged to contact Tintify directly via email or phone call.
- Tintify stands for inclusion, respect, and fairness for all parties involved.
Payment Terms and Late Fee Policy
All payments, including invoices, are due upon completion of the window tinting job.
- If payment is not received within 7 calendar days of completion, a late fee of 5% of the total invoice amount will be applied.
- An additional 5% late fee will accrue every 7 days thereafter until the payment is made in full.

Purpose
This policy outlines customer expectations and guidelines for the smooth execution of window tinting appointments, including preparation requirements, factors affecting pricing, and behaviour standards.
A section at the end of the policy also outlines payment terms and late fees. We encourage all customers to read these terms BEFORE engaging in our services. Please contact our team directly if unsure of any term before proceeding with engaging our services.
Factors Affecting Quotation Pricing
The following items may result in a change to the quoted price if not mentioned during quotation:
- Removal of blinds, curtains, fly screens, or other obstructions.
- Hard-to-access windows (e.g., stairways).
- Frames/seals with excessive paint, stickers, glue residue, or silicone.
- Change of decision (window film was applied and removed due to change of choice).
- Excessive dirt on windows requiring additional cleaning.
- Wooden window frames.
- Old window film requiring removal.
- Glass edges exposed outside of the frame.
Window Film Installation Guidelines
Tintify upholds the guidelines of The International Window Film Association in all jobs completed:
- Installed film on flat glass surfaces is not expected to have the same level of visual quality as glass
- Installed film has a discrete time for full adhesion to be affected since installation uses detergent in the water for installation on the glass. The excess water is squeegeed out, but inevitably, residue of water will remain between the film and the glass. The time to achieve full adhesion (dissolved squeegee marks, water residue etc.) may be extended or shortened according to climatic conditions.
- It should be noted that effects during cure, such as water bubbles, water distortion, and water haze are not to be regarded as defects.
- The glass with applied film shall be viewed at a distance of not less than 6 feet (2 meters). Viewing shall be carried out in natural daylight, not in direct sunlight, and shall assess the normal vision area with the exception of a 2 inch (50mm) wide band around the perimeter of the unit.
- The 2 inch (50mm) wide band around the perimeter shall be assessed by a similar procedure: but a small number of particles is considered acceptable where poor frame condition is present.
- The installation shall be deemed acceptable if all of the following are unobtrusive at 2 metres from the inside of the glass (effects during visual cure should be disregarded): Dirt Particles, Hair and Fibers, Adhesive Gels, Fingerprints, Air Bubbles, Water Haze, Scores and Scratches, Film Distortion, Creases, Edge Lift, Nicks and Tears.
- Edge gaps will normally be 1/32-1/16 inch (1-4mm). This allows for the water used in the installation to be squeegeed out. This ensures that film edges are not raised up by contact with the frame margin. Contact with the frame margin is highly likely to lead to peeling of the film.
- For thicker safety films the edge gaps will normally be 1/32-1/16 inch (1-4mm), with 1/32-1/8 inch (1-5mm) being acceptable for films of ≥ 7 mil (175μ). Combination solar control safety films will also fall within this standard. An edge gap of up to 1/16 inch (2mm) is recommended, especially for darker (tinted, metallized, tinted/metallized, and sputtered) films, to minimize the light line around the edge of the installed film.
- Splicing of films is necessary when larger panels of glass are treated, where both length and width of the glass exceed the maximum width of film. The splice line itself should not be viewed as a defect. This line should be straight and should be parallel to one edge of the frame margin. The two pieces of film may be butt jointed. The maximum gap at any point in the splice line should be 1/64 inch (1mm). Film may be overlapped, spliced or butt jointed.
